Micah sat behind me in a photography class in college. I’m pretty sure she asked me a question about aperture, which led to me asking how I could tag along and second shoot her friend’s wedding she was asked to photograph. We shared a season of co-owning Double Knot Photography, and it was just as beautiful as it was wild to learn how to run a business while we simultaneously grew our precious families. It was all those late-night drives after sweaty Texas summer weddings when I found out that Micah is a forever-friend kind of girl, with just as much laughter as there is depth. About the same time that I was feeling nudges to lay down the business, Micah’s creativity was soaring to new heights, and her passion and drive to pioneer something new in the photography world was being etched in her heart.

I’ve seen Micah fine-tune the craft of photography and skill of running a thriving business throughout her career, but even more, I’ve seen her prioritize her dream of loving her family well. It’s why she’s so good at bringing peace into a room when a bride is frazzled or how easily she pulls genuine laughter out of a tense couple or unsettled child during a photo shoot. She lives in an abundance of peace and joy inside of herself and inside her home, so naturally, it overflows through her work.
